hi guys need a little help. I would like to install Red Hat 7.2 on my windows system.

My windows system is triple boot with win98 win2000 and winXP.

win98 is FAT32 while win2000 and XP are NTFS.

primary HDD is 30GB with active primary C:FAT32 4.40GB and 713MB free.

extended: logical partitions D:NTFS 5.13GB and 2.90GB free. E:NTFS 15.07GB and 6.38GB free. I:NTFS 3.19GB and 992MB free.

Also have secondary HDD 60GB withe about 62% free space which is also NTFS.

I have partition magic and i know I could possible squish and squash primary HDD abit i think I can revert back some NTFS patition to FAT32. To take RH bootfiles. how big dose bootfile directory have to be for RH would 3GB be ok. Also how big to make swap partition?

or is there any way I can use my secondary drive for RH by installing neccessary boot files on primary and the rest on secondary??

I was thinking of ghosting primary and getting a 120GB HDD and putting primary drive image on that.

But I'm ichting to put RH on my PC.

I would be glad for any suggestions and help

I understand very little about linux so be gentle with me.

Well I am not sure on fat32 but I can tell you what rh 7.1 did to a 5 gig drive yesterday. 52 meg for a boot, 256 meg for a swap and the rest for /root. Of course that was EXT2 and letting it do it on its own. X, Gnome and KDE with the standard packages and no RPM apps took up 1.3 gig.

I have'nt gone any farther yet because I have this ATI rage 128 16 meg PCI video card that setup recognizes but xserver gets errors with no screens found. So I am at the command line at this point just playing around.

I have an old Diamond S3 which I will stick in later to see if it works. Can't say I am impressed with RH hardware support, finds the card but won't use it. 7.1 is a year old so I don't know if this unregistered shrinkwrap workstation box gets telephone support still.

It also says that there is something wrong with my mouse configuration file but setup can't seem to fix it. I am logged in as root so I don't understand all this yet. I'm just starting with linux myself but I did use unix for quite a while san's X stuff.
