| Hi,
i have a little problem with my Linux 7.3 installaion.
My XWindows systems is not working. i don't even get the login window. The screen turns red and remains like that. nothing happens .
During the installation my VGA card was correctly detected, even the screen resolution test worked fine.
Can anyone of you help me with this prob???
Regards,

| Try making a backup copy of your /etc/XF86Config file, then running Xconfigurator and resetting your screen settings. Something may have went awry in the automatic configuration that can be put to rights by hand-tweaking. | |

| there are a few other programs such as XF86Setup and xf86config which may help you ingetting your X Server uop and running. Some distros also come with Superprobe, a utility that probes your video card for more info. You may want to try these. What kind of video card do you have? You may do OK going with a lower quality server such as VGA_16 or something if it is not supported. That usually works. Yes, the stuff in Windows "Display" properties can be used to tune the Linux X Server properties. Might want to just try playing with it a bit. |
