| LINUX ADMINISTRATION: A BEGINNER'S GUIDE, 2ND EDITION
by Steve Shah
Publisher: McGraw-Hill Book Company
the book's companion CD-ROM includes the full version of Red Hat Linux 7, the leading Linux distribution--not a trial or demo version. But the book covers the latest versions of all leading Linux distributions, so you'll get learn a lot even if you don't use Red Hat.
I used this book to study for the Linux+ beta. I liked it.

| Red Hat and Debian. RH is the most popular, but the Linux+ also covers Debian utiltities like apt-get which and dselect, which only come with Debian, and you should know how to use those as well. | |

This setup is fairly easy.
1. Load windows 2000 onto the machine, leaving a partition for Linux.
2. Load Linux into the parition you created.
3. Make the Linux root partition the active partition. Very important.
And if you want to access your windoze drive in Linux, make sure you format using FAT. Linux does support NTFS but it's new and still occasionally has problems. Linux does, however, speak FAT very well.
That's the jist of a very good screensavers article in which I cannot find at the moment - but you get the idea. |
