Got some problems with alias' after I installed Mandrake I noticed that there are some some default alias' already available. For example there's one for ls but I prefer to make my own so I edited the .bashrc file but the alias entries I wanted to change are not in there. They seem to be used for all users and overides the ones written in the .bashrc file so which file do I need to edit to get rid of them?

You can overwrite them in your .bashrc with the unalias command.
