OOPS! I dont know what I just hit to submit that, but oh well... anyway, I need some help getting ready for the LPI. We have a group of about 4-5 guys who need to get this certification as soon as possible for a work requirement. We have installed several versions of linux (all the ones that IBM supports) and have plenty of equipment to get the hands on with. As far as study resources go, We have LPI in a nutshell, and A Practical Guide to Linux (neither of which I have started yet due to the studying for something else) and basically a bunch of servers and a few workstations. What are some good resources that have been used to pass the level 1 exams? I am going to read the books through a couple of times, and will do everything that they say to do in the books, but any idea on how long it should take to prepare and pass? I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but the other guys I am working with are pretty fast learners (just kidding, kinda) but any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help!

First of all, get used to using and administering Linux. There are few better preparations than that. Get the LPI In A Nutshell book and study away. The tests are thorough but not that difficult. ExamCram also has some guidebooks that are quite good. Know the basics of the file system, how to use sed and awk, how to add and delete users, installation methods, how to do backups, command line utilities and server processes and daemons and you have most of the test.

Thanks for the feedback! I finally got to play with RH 7.2 today. I love messing around with FDISK! I loaded win2k in spanish, and then winXP pro, and installed Linux third. I got it to work, but the problem I had was that I installed linux past cylinder 1 thousand and something, so it wont let LILO be the boot loader. I also set the default to text login, and am getting used to the command line. I deleted the winXP partition and created a new linux partition, and was booting with the floppy and am getting kernel panic errors. Now I am going to start over. After this weekend, I will be full force studying, and will keep you guys posted on the progress. I am loving this stuff, and am amazed at how many stinking file types linux can read!
Thanks again for the feedback!

you can still use lilo as the boot loader, change it from linear to LBA32 .. you can do a search on doing this .. also some resources you might want look at ..

linuxdoc.org
linuxnewbie.org (great forum, some good general guides)
linuxplanet.com
rute.sourceforge.net (tutorials)
linuxcommand.org ( command line tutorial, manpages)
linuxquestions.org

well there are many more, like linuxlinks.com , but hopefully this helps some, good luck .. also, IBM has a ton of free Linux tutorials on their website as well ..
