Ifconfig on slackware 8

| Hi, i just setup on my laptop the Slackware 8 distribution, but i have i little problem with ifconfig. When i start, the network is down and i have to make ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.40 up to setup the network, but when i restart, everithing get lost.
Where should i put the configuration (witch file?)

| Try typing "man netconfig". The info on this page should help you accomplish this. | |
