Hi all,

I want to learn UNIX and get certified in it, however I am a newbie and have not ever used UNIX before. I know there is HP, Solaris, AIX, etc and I am not sure which one I should learn! What would you all suggest to be the best route to take as well as study materials??? Currently I have my MCSE as well as my CCNA. Thanks for all your help!

First pick a general book on Unix, READ and READ, then decide which system u want to do.

Do u have unix access? It will be a great trainig.

If not, it might be a problem.

I suggest starting out with Linux. It's a lot more user friendly to someone coming from a Windows background then Unix is. Mandrake, Caldera and RedHat would all be great distros to start off with. After you're familiar with the interworkings of Linux, moving over to Unix should be no problem.

"Running Linux" seems to be a popular book for beginners. There's also a lot of information to be found on various Linux websites and the man pages.
