| This is "Pete", our HP-UX box running CDE. I am running an X Session via Exceed on my Win2K Pro workstation and am accessing our main database server here. | |

| I'm not a big fan of CDE, but this looks a lot nicer then the typical SSH session. | |

| Well, there's no doubt about it . . . CDE is ugly. But it comes free with most UNIX distros, and as KDE and GNOME often come with a lot of frills that businesses don't like, I am stuck with it on Pete. Just thought I would show everybody here what it looks like. BTW, I was running this on a Windows box with Exceed. Unlike with lots of Linux, HP-UX is almost totallt command-line based, so the CDE really doesn't add much to the functionality, except for graphical web browsing. However, I might mention that this just took me about five minutes to set up, so it is pretty quick. Still . . . for a desktop, it leaves much to be desired. |
