I am not sure. Not yet anyway. I have never had problems with virii in Linux, but I do recall the Ramen worm problem being talked about some time ago. I would need to see the definition list and see what the virii that it protects against actually do . . . and if the data is extremely valuable, it may be a wise idea to protect it in any way possible. I know that as Linuc becomes more popular, there will probably be more worms and trojans written for the file systems.

Most of the *inux viri out there exploit well known security holes, so I'm thinking that antivirus software isn't necessary for an already well secured box. Up until this point Linux has had an extra level of security because of it being very seldom used, and that's quickly disapearing.

I'm looking into *nix antivirus software that can detect Windows viruses. Something that I could set it up on a *nix firewall to block out most viri before they ever reach the workstations.
