I changed the name of the workgroup in my smb.conf file.I changed it on the client side as well. After I did this...

Browsing from one client "the list of server for this workgroup is not available"

From the other "the server is not configured for transactions"

I can resolve names both ways I can mount shares on to my Linux box.I cannot connect to my samba shares."Network name not found"

A few steps forward,,,many back

Did you restart your samba daemons?

Yep.
Rebooted all boxes.Im getting the network name is not found?

Is there another file I should be editing?

Have you done any Windows 2000 integration with Samba.Im thinking maybe I really should get the DNS properly configured.

It doesnt make any sense as to why this was working

Netstat from windows

REDBOX:netbios-ssn TIME_WAIT

Im downloading ethereal.Maybe it will give me some idea of where the connection error is.

My guess is that your problem relates to there not being a master browser (or whatever it's called) for your workgroup. This would be the cause of the problem if the workgroup you were on earlier had a master browser (usually NT/2K server) and the workgroup it's on now doesn't. There are a few perimeters in the smb.conf file that relate to this, so try taking a look at these.

Post your smb.conf file and I'll see if I can find anything wrong w/it. Are you able to see the shares by typing in the IP instead of the NetBIOS name?
