till trying to install linux

| i tried installing corel linux in a pentium 3 550mhz with 192MB ram
and a 20 GB hard drive that has no OS and it gets to "starting linux" and stays there forever
i tried it in an older computer and the same thing happened
next i will be trying to install caldera
am i doing anything wrong?

| This is weird. I take it you're booting off of the CD, and it freezes up before you do anything else? Make sure the CD isn't defective. | |

| i gave up on corel
i downloaded caldera and managed to install caldera
now i am trying to conect to the internet have dsl)
i dont think the network card is configured
and i know i need to set up tcp ip
any ideas

| Did you read the HOWTO documents? You can get most of this sort of thing accomplished in Caldera by use of the COAS administration facilities. You may need to edit some text files by hand, like HOSTNAME, sots.deny, hosts.allow and so on, in the /etc directory. If you can't figure it out after reading the HOWTO's or by using COAS, I'll try to help you a bit more. |
