i am new to linux
i just got a book from the store called
Mastering Corel Linux, which comes with corel 2dn edition
i am trying to install the OS in a pentum 120mhz, 64 Mb ram, 4x cdrom
i only get to the message saying starting linux then loading linux
and the busy line on the cdrom goes off and the computer stays in the same spot forever
any ideas?

I'm not sure. The only thing that I can think of is a hardware problem since the PC you're loading Corel on is fairly old. If it is a hardware issue, I suspect the CD-ROM. If you have an extra one lying around, trying putting it in there, and seeing if that fixes the problem.

erase WinME, install Win2k Pro in 5GB partition, install Linux in 5GB partition..

ok, not really, if you have something like PartitionMagic, you can mess with your partitions (but be careful). also, maybe there's something with your linux "distro" that will let you partition.

i think caldera put out a version that installed/formatted through windows...

hey LINUX GEEKS! help this boy out! i may mess him up.

good luck Carlitos.

that should work for you. i think even 5 knows ext2 partition types (which is what Linux uses). but you should look into what LILO may do to your MBR and WinME.

good luck.

As far as I know, Caldera's version of Partition Magic will not work with Win2K/ME, you need PM 6.0. That should do the trick.

Yes, PM6 should work. I suggest backing up anything important before doing this though.
