Hi

I've been playing around with various flavours of linux, different shells etc for the last 18 months.....purely out of interest really but with all the linux certs now coming out I thought maybe now might be a good time to take advantage of this "hobby".......which would be the best linux cert to start with?

Hope someone can help

The three big ones seem to be LPI, Linux+ and RHCE. For a casual user, either LPI or Linux+ would be a good choice. I'd tend to lean towards recommending Linux+ because of CompTIA's name recognition.

I agree. I think the Linux+ will be a bit more basic than the LPIC, and it would be very good to try these before embarking on the RHCE.

If u been playing with the Linux for 18 months, I think LPI will not be a problem for you.

But if you are very serious about Linux, shall always go for the RHCE. Remember RH required to attend their class and it kind of experience.
