Going to Sun Solaris Admin. Need to know the Good books and resource sites besides the Sun books and sites.

On another note - What is the difference btwn the SAIR/GNU cert and the LPI Cert besides the #of test for the each of the Levels.

I think the SAIR/GNU certs and the LPI are the same if I am not mistaken. Sorry, don't know much about Solaris.

I installed Solaris for the first time last night. The install was very straight forward. This is definatley a different animal then Linux and BSD, so I'll have to relearn a lot of things. Jenkata, do you have any book recomendations for learning Solaris? I'm mostly interested in learning how to use it as various types of servers, not really a workstation (that's what Linux excells at).

ccieToBe,

I know that Sun Press has great books for ver 2.6 and 2.7(solaris 7), but for Solaris 8 all I have are the sun docs from there website (http://docs.sun.com/) downloaded the PDFs. I know that Sybex is going to release their study guide for Solaris 8 Administrator Certification in April 2001. Sorry I can't be of any more help. But the following are some sites for sun resources:

http://www.solariscentral.org/
http://www.solarisguide.com/
http://www.sunguru.com/
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/
http://www.sunhelp.org/

Hope the above links helps.
