| I just noticed at Opera's web site, there is an Opera version for Linux. This is quite news to me as on Linux so far I have only used Netscape and Lynx to browse the web. Might want to check it out if anyone is interested. | |
|
| Yeah, there are a few different Linux browsers out there. My favorite is Mozilla. If you've ever used Netscape 6 the feel is very simular. | |
|
| I was installed it back in December on my brother Linux. It was still beta but quiet stable( needs Qt). This is my favorite browser, because it light, and you can toggle with one click whether to show or not to show pictures (including banners, etc). | |

| I know, I really like it, it is super fast, can handle multiple windows and aids a little in fighting the two top guns in the browser wars. It seems Netscape was the usual client provided with most distros of Linux, so I was happy to see it ported to Linux.
Hmmm . . . . BobbyDigital, Randy, ccieToBe, and two or three others who post less frequently . . . are we the only ones who use this forum??? Makes me wonder sometimes! Anyway, thanks guys. | |

| I am still using Netscape 4.75 as I find Netscape 6 to be extremely unstable. The Opera client is ad banner based if I remember correctly.
So, in the meantime...I will continue to use Nutscrap 4.75 until 6 is worked out. I do like 6 better (looks and faster) but the crashes start to irritate after a while.
As always, YMMV | |

| There is a banner at the top of the Opera Browser, but it is not obtrusive. It can be gotten rid of by paying a fee (fat chance!!!), but I like it's speed and multiple windows. Haven't tried Netscape 6 yet, I'll have to take a looksie at it. how long has it been out? I am still using 4.76 now. | |

| It came out somewhere back in late Nov early Dec...It looks much better, font wise. Speed, kind of slow when you have mutliple windows going and they bundled everything (including the instant messenger) into the same application so it is big! |
