| I am thinking about going for a Linux cert and I was wondering which one would be worth more to potential employer - the Linux Professional Institute's LPI 1 or CompTIA's Linux+?
Looking over the test prep material for both certs it appears that Linux+ is the more difficult of the two, although you have to pass two tests to get the LPI cert.
Any help would be appreciated.

| Linux+ is the easier of the two IMHO, but has more emphasis on hardware. Ultimately, I think the LPI will be of more worth because there are several levels so you can concentrate your study skills in certain areas more intensely. But then again, CompTIA does have a widely recognised name . . . | |

| out of the 2, LPI, but i would say Sair, thats my opinion, of course, for the more advanced RHCE is by far the most respected, good luck ..

| Thanks to all for the advice! I plan to pick up the O'Reilly LPI in a Nutshell and take it from there.

Sounds like a great choice. I'm yet to be disapointed by an O'Reilly book. |
