So here what I want out of IT.

A JOB!

hehehehe

ok doing what?

Networking with cisco routers/switches and Linux servers!

I plan on going as high as I can on the cisco latter. Currently I am going for the Net+. I plan on focusing on Linux as my NOS of choice, I have limited experience with Linux and find it to be....logical.
Maybe my background in programming has something to do with that .
Anyway, I am going to take the Linux+ cert from CompTIA, have been looking at others and am considering the certs offered from Sair. Not really all that knowledgable about Linux certs and got the newsletter outlining them. Was curious if anyone had any input on what's hot, what's getting hot and if there is a Linux cert that has that "can not be faked!" aura, like the CCIE.

DOWN with CEO led OSs! Open source, open opportunities!

Thanks

Sounds like a good plan. Having some background in programming should help you in learning Linux.

From what I've heard, Linux+ covers the basics and Sair is at a slightly higher level. RHCE's sort of like the CCIE of Linux (not as difficult, but still very tough). It involves both written and lab testing and would be almost impossible to pass for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Yes, it's RedHat. I don't care much for their distro, but this is the most in depth Linux certification out there and when you get down the the command line, Linux is Linux.
