i am back
i am conected to the internet with my mandrake linux box
so i went to yahoo
downloaded the rpm needed for yahoo messenger
i installed it
now i to run the application
i am supposed to type ymessenger at a prompt
what i am doing is
i open something called terminal
and i type ymessenger there, and i get a message saying command no found
i thought that i maybe didnt install properly
so i run the installation rpm again and it told me that it was already installed
any ideas?
or am i supposed to go to somewhere different than the terminal to get a prompt?

It sounds like you've installed it correctly and probably aren't typing in the correct command. The terminal is the correct place to type in commands. Remember that commands are case sensitive in *nix. Check if the app you're using to install RPMs will give you a list of files created by this RPM. Try typing "ymes", then pressing tab (assuming you're in a shell that supports this, tabbing over completes partial commands.
