| Hi. I am currently beginning to start studying for the Oracle 8i DBA exams. I have just completed the IBM DB2 exams. I am not very sure which books would be the most useful and informative in helping me with my study. I have seen many titles on the web but cannot decipher which is the best. Could you possible recommend the most useful books for the exams. Any help would be most helpful.
Thank You.

| Choose any books but be sure that they are from Oracle Press . Books by Jason Couchman are good . | |

| Oracle Press books are not the definitive answer, and saying so is just naive and ill informed. If you look around other Oracle-related websites, you'll see many people giving Sybex very high marks (with the exception of RMAN in the Backup and Recovery book). Some people like ExamCramp better. But for sure, Oracle Press books is not "the" answer. | |

| May be I am naive and ill informed, but I just followed those books, no extra material and no dumps, everything was there in the books, even the course material followed at Oracle training centres is sufficient to clear test. Today only I cleared my 2nd paper with 58/60 marks and I am now OCA , not that ill informed O.K. | |

| 1. We were talking about 8i, not 9i, and as you must surely know, there is no such thing as OCA in 8i, so please stay to the point of the thread (8i, not 9i).
2. You are the one who said get any books you want, just be sure they are from Oracle Press. Aside from being a nonsequitur, and failing to understand what I said about someone (you) claiming Oracle Press books being THE only source you need, good for you that you passed. There are other options as to what can be used to study for the exams. |
