hello everyone...

i am trying to install Developer 2000 Ver 2(Forms 6 and other stuff) with Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 but i couldn't make it.

first I installed Oracle 9i and when i try to install D2K, it creates another home, which disturbes the Oracle 9i setup.

Can u help me in this?

thanks

Well, for one, D2K is not certified against Oracle9i. For two, what platform? For three, why not get Forms 6i (available at OTN) and use that? For four, read the release notes about which product to install first.

Oh, and if you do install Forms 6i, also get patch 12 or 13. That'll fix a lot of forms problems.

I believe the main concern here is with the listeners (not much with oracle home)
You have to configure listener to connect from forms to DB.
However im forgotten how to exactly how to do it so i have experienced similar problems

(See other post about this)

If your database is running and you can connect via SQL*Plus from a remote platform, it is not a listener issue. It is a configuration issue with tnsnames.ora (and sqlnet.ora if you are using names.default_domain).

When you install 6i it will be under its own location. Because of this, it has SQL*Net environment. To access your 9i DB you will have to create a connection entry in 6i. The cleanest method is to use the 'Oracle Net8 Easy Config' from the 'Oracle for Window NT' program group. Fill in the info and test your connection and if successful, you should be able to access the 9i DB from any of the 6i applications.

Enjoy
