It's really hard to work as a DBA for ppl without any experience.

Most of the time, employer will employ ppl with at least 2 to 5 years of working experience.

Meantime, try to practise as much on the Oracle, turning yourself into a Oracle guru. When, times come, you might be able to put your skills into good use.

Or try to find some other IT jobs, which the company might be using Oracle. From there, y ou move on, and see whenther you can do any DBA works.

If you dun try, you never get the chance. If you try, at least, there's some hopes.

All the best !!!

Oh, please! The same way thousands of people have passed MCSE without any real admin experience would be one answer to your question.

Ill be the next one to pass MCSA/MCSE without real experience. (goddemit - i think do have some experience -- i work as an admin - i do configure small networks and DBs)

Long live Bill Gates whos too cheap to change exam-questions frequently!

<Well - at least I studied really hard for Oracle and A+, Net+, CCNA certs - classes + books + practice)

I'm taking classes three nights a week for MCSE. Just because I want to and I can. So what counts as experience? There are a million things in Oracle a typical DBA will never see or use, but that doesn't mean he can't be certified in the product. For a lot of people, exposure to a feature is all the experience they'll ever get with it. That's true in Windows-land. Experience certainly helps with the exams, but it is not an absolute requirement (with a few exceptions).

We can be expert in Oracle product, but not in all area of Oracle.

Frankly, speaking, there's bound to have areas, which we dun really use it in our daily work. Until, there's a requirement, we will explore and look into it.

That's the part and puzzle for IT life.
