I have heard the same thing, backup and recovery is the easiest paper for 8i and 9i.

Sorrie to know that you have failed this paper. Dun worry, i believe the next round, you will do better. Hereby, wish you all the best.

I took one of my 8i SQL/ PLSQL paper. Left with 4 papers to go. But, i will be going for 9i instead 8i. Coz, i will be taking up a full track 9i course with a training school in my country. The trainer is a indian previously have taught Oracle University in India. I believe under his guidance and coaching, i will do even better.

I have do some self reading and learning. But, there's points, which i dun really understand. This show that Oracle is not a simple stuff, which we can really learn from self study. By taking classes, we can shorten the time of learning and in terms practise,we will make our oracle skills perfect.

lasher,

sorry to hear you failed the exam .. where there certain topics you did not understand well? B&R ist not at all the easiest exam. IMHO pl/sql is. I would recommend take pl/sql first. passing the first exam gives a lot of motivation.

Proceed with arch&admin - a lot to do, but easy to understand.

With arch&admin under your belt its easier to go for B&R. everything is logical if you know whats going on it the database, this could be the reason why some people with practise consider the exam easy ...

then I would recommend to take networking. it's IMHO the second easiest exam - not much to work through (but be careful about all the parameters and their options )

At the end prepare yourself for the most boring exam: performance tuning. learn it by heart and forget it! you will never need to optimize latches in practise

good luck!
