Well, I have a problem: <obviously I have lot of those but im gonna discuss only Oracle-related here >

I installed Oracle9i DB <again in fresh XP os> and then I installed Oracle 9i DS (developer suite - forms etc.);
The problem is how to make connectivity between 9i Forms and my 9i DB?

(I know how that I have to configure some kind of listener but exactly how? <I did it b4 with forms 6i but I guess i have forgotten how to do it> ).

Lets assume that my DB is with default options and that no listeners were configured.
So please HELP ME!

f*ck no;
as u know it only tells you what kind of questions You will have in the exam (most of the times it gives you even wrong answers)

so do You know or not how to configure that listener
<I really hate LISTENERS - they always give me problems and headaches>

Dont worry Sexy, I will figure out eventually how to configure those listeners - whether with your help or without;
And if I dont - I have 20000 pages of Oracle manuals and studyguides to help me with and I can always give a call to one of my oracle teachers;

Well, anyway Thnx for nothing
and I promise I am not going to discuss here anything which really concerns Oracle - most people here are anyway concerned either getting dumps and copyrighted materials OR mocking those people who do that;

Somebody in examnotes once told me that "ask for help and You shall receive it - Im going to tell "ask it in the right place"

Margus,

normally Oracle is shipped with a config-assistant like "Oracle Net9 Assistant" (somewhere in Start/Programs/Oracle for Windows XP ...)

There you can configure the listener and tnsnames. (you don't need Oracle Names Server)

Haven't you installed the initial database? Normally the configuration of listener and sql*net is done by some assistants during installation.

If you have any problems I can help you in the evening - in about 4 hours here ... I've only an Oracle 8i installation at work ... but 9i running at home. There is nothing special to configure the listener .... so don't worry!
