I just would like to know how many years Oracle Certificates are valid for? If there is, is there any option to re-certify?

I am new to Oracle certs and planning to fetch one...

If you scroll down, you will actualy find the answer for your question.
Briefly, Oracle certification does not expire, once you get your certification. But you may need to upgrade your certification for next version of the Oracle release. In this case you will be required to pass only one exam, instead of 4-5 exams when you start. You have to do it for each version though. In other words if you hold certification for Oracle 7, you cannot get upgrade to Oracle 9i. In this case you will have to start all over. So be advised about it.

Student, you're the one that needs to be advised.

Oracle9i DBA OCP Upgrade Path
Upgrade exams for Oracle7.3, Oracle8 and Oracle8i DBA OCPs.

In order to make the process of staying current as an Oracle Certified technical professional, those already certified on previous releases of Oracle may upgrade to each future release by simply completing one migration exam. Listed below are the migration exams that are currently available to previously certified Oracle DBAs.

Oracle7.3 and Oracle8 DBA OCPs now have another option to upgrade their DBA OCP credential directly to Oracle9i: Exam #1Z0-035 Oracle9i DBA New Features for Oracle7.3 and Oracle8 OCPs.

Sorry for not being clear with my explanation regarding the upgrade on Oracle certification, but then again I was not counting on STECAL being so snappy either.
The idea was that you need to get upgrade to the next version before the Oracle retires the exam. After all it is up to Oracle to make the rules from which version you can upgrade to which.
All you need is to check the link that STECAL has provided and you will have up-to-date info on certification related to Oracle.
Anyway , good luck

One more question! Can I use Oracle 8i Certification book to go for Introduction to Oracle 9i:SQL exam? Coz I got two books from my company and want to go for the latest exam which is 9i....

Any suggestion is welcome......

Check this thread "1Z0-101 and 1Z0-147 ".
According to the posting the Sybex book is somewhat helpful but does not cover all the required material.
If you are serious about getting certification going for the latest not always the best idea, i.e. no materials yet.
Also there is a requirement of in class training from Oracle which can add up in cost. This may not be a problem for you if your company pays for it, otherwise it is something to consider too.

Hi student615,
What do u mean by "there is a requirement of in class training from Oracle"? Do I have to be trained in the class for that exam? Oracle 9i:SQL? Could you please explain me? Thanks in advance...

If you check this link: http://www.oracle.com/education/cer...?dba9i_ocp.html
you will see that:
"Instructor-led class requirement for candidates starting on the Oracle9i DBA Certified Professional credential exam path."
You can find all the requirements on Oracle web site.
It does not mean you have to attend in-class training for the first exam, you can do it for second one instead.
