| Hi all I cleared 1Z0-147 yesterday with 91%.. But I must say it wasnt easy, apart from the fact that there was absolutely no help available online. Only after completing the test did I get to know the pass percentage etc. | |

| Congrats!!! | |
|
| For all of you....
The exam (1Z0-147) was of 1.5 hours duration.
Consisting of 71 questions out of which 5 were unmarked, which means that you'll be marked out 66. The pass number of questions is 51, so get 51/66 (close to 78%) and you are through. My study materials essentialy include the PL/SQL program units (101) study guide, as well as the SQL*International's PL/SQL 9i guide (which is Oracle Corps official courseware) volume 2 that had the additional information (Large Objects, UTIL_FILE, UTIL_HTTP, CALL, Using PL/SQL tables in functions etc).
Anything Else ???
And does anybody know anything yet about the 9i Forms exam??

| The dependencies are covered quite well in pl/sql program units exam guide. I can't imagine sitting for this exam without that book and the test questions.
I sit for the exam today - will let you know how it turns out. Hard areas are 8i and 9i features that the book doesn't cover (dbms_lob, etc) as I just don't know the extent that each procedure and function has to be memorized.
I've used the exam guide and online 9i books for all of my studying. There's a LOT of material for this exam as they can stick with you so many details in a test question.
We'll see if my study was enough today.

| I cleared exam by 92% couple weeks ago.
It was MUCH easier than I expected. There was a lot I don't know but wasn't a problem. I didn't take many practice exams like I have in the past. In fact, I did quite poorly on the practice exams so was quite worried about taking this one. Couple of questions were really bad - I knew the material and none of the answers made sense so beware. I have not seen questions that bad on previous exams, but there weren't very many of these.
They didn't get specific on dbms utilities for more than 2 questions. Mainly just need to know the purpose of the ones listed as topics by Oracle on their certification website.
The main advice I would give is to know the essentials. In other words, what are the events, timings for triggers, scope of variables in packages, how to specify parameters (like can OUT parms have default values?), etc. The old pl/sql program units book actually covered the questions really well. There's not a lot of 9i specific material on the exam.
Hopefully this will help someone else be a little less stressed about taking it. |
