| I am a newbie to IT. I earned an AAS in PC Support and my A+. I completed my 1st contract job (18 mo) on a deployment team. During that time I redesigned the Access db we were using to track computer assets. It was dreadfully inadaquate. I redesigned the tables, initiated referential integrity rules, added forms, queries, switchboards, reports, some VB code, put it on a network and added security. I really enjoyed the work. I understand most of the db concepts. Now, I want to add Oracle skills. I studied PL/SQL on my own through CBTs. I have since been laid off my 2nd contract job as a network tech after 2 months. I am interested in Oracle certification. However, I know how difficult it is to break in with no experience. I am not sure which way to turn or how to achieve or pay for certification. Should I count the Access work as experience? And what is the difference between Oracle 8i and Oracle 9i certs? |
