I'm new to Oracle and .NET. I want to get my hands on database programming to add on my networking skills. I have solid Web programming experiences, as well as MYSQL and Postgres (both freeware Linux SQL apps). Now i'm thinking of using C# to retrieve database files (big ones) from Oracle. My goals to develop an in-house application that automates reports for my company to retrieve data from the Oracle database. Here are my two-cent questions: Are .NET and Oracle compatible with each other? Will there be any conflict and caveats that I should watch out for? I thought that since Larry Elison and Bill Gates hate each other so much that they won't let their softwares be compatible with each other.
