How do 9I DBA Oracle exams compare to Win2K MCDBA?
|

| I hold a Win2K MCDBA and am interested in finding out anything I can about the Oracle exams for the 9i DBA track. I am especially interested in finding out if the Oracle exams are like the Microsoft exams. I found the Microsoft exams to be arcane and full of trick questions and ambiguous use of terms. The exams ask many questions that really are more about whether you could understand what they were fishing for. Are Oracle exams straight forward? Do the descriptions of the exams on the Oracle certification web site accurately describe the questions that will be asked? What are the best source of example questions that are really like the actual exams?
If there is anyone out there who has both an MCDBA and a Oracle DBA certification, which set of exams did you find harder, and why?

| You should find the Oracle exams a little easier, though you still need to cover the material. There are a few ambiguous questions but by having five questions covering one rdbms they cut down the scope. Also you'll find that already knowing one rdbms well will stand you in good stead.
I have the MCDBA2k and am half way through the oracle 8i track. there's still alot of 8i around and will be for a while. I suggest doing the 8i track and then its only one exam to upgrade and include full 9i certification and it only another exam, not a monster like the mcse2k upgrade. |
