Hello,

I get the concept of REF columns in regard to when you run the Data Block Wizard and selecting a ref column, but how do these ref columns get created in the first place??

Thank you.

REF cursor r created while u create a stored procedure. REF cursor r pointers to the SELECT statement in a stored procedure.
When such a stored procedure is made a data source in the Data Block Wizard those columns r visible.

You have to create the stored procedure with a REF cursor prior to using it as a data source in the Data Block Wizard.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, but how does an ACTUAL REF column get created in the first place?

As in you can have a table, and one column could be a REF column, so even when setting up data blocks in a form module, you could set it up based on a table/view, but that table may contain a REF column (so, then you get 2 instances, the REF item, and the actual data), but I am wondering how the ref column was created in the first place in a table?

Thanks again!
