| i am persuing the DBA track having passed 4, left with Net Admin, would like to hunt for a job, a friend in the field of Oracle suggests i apply as an Oracle developer, what do fellow forum members say? I dont have any Oracle experience | |

| Yes, all DBAs (myself included) start as pl/sql (and/or java/jdbc) programmers.
There cannot be any such thing as 'junior DBA', it is in fact a contradiction in terms.

| Then what about studying for the Oracle Developer certification instead before going for the DBA?
You will learn more studying for the Application Developer exams than for the DBA track. | |

| It is all relative. However breaking into Oracle world as a developer is comparatively easier as a DBA. A project team could have 10+ developers, but typically only has one DBA, 2 max.
It all depends on your current situation, and what your long term aim is.
