| Hi,
I just graduated from college and took an Oracle 8 class. I want to become an Oracle certified DBA. However, I'm not sure which path to take and which exam to study for. Which would be more beneficial in term of my career, Oracle 8, 8i, or 9i? Can someone enlighten me? Thank you.

| Well, I found an answer to my own question. At the present it seems that Oracle 8i is the way to go. I don't know Oracle already retired the Oracle 8 track. Oracle 9i seems to be to new yet. Here is the site I got my info from:
http://www.dbdomain.com/dbaexam.htm#whichtrack
If anyone has additional info for me I'd greatly appreciate it.
Has anyone passed the certification without job experience or classroom training? Is it possible to pass straight from the study books?
Thanks.

| Hai,
OCP for 8i is the correct one...as you choosed..
First you prepare for PL/SQL paper.. you can refer the PL/SQL guide for OCP from SYBEX series.. this one is really good..as i seen..
otherwise.. you can go for Orcle press release book of OCP exam guide.

| Paula,
It is quite possible to pass Oracle OCP with
just the books - good or bad, I don't know.
I have seen people passing OCP with NO
experience AT ALL.
The question is really which books you use
to pass OCP.
