hi all,
I gave my 1z0-001 exam yest. and could not clear it. THis is the first timein my life, I'm failing in my exam. This has never happend before. I lost it by 1 question. Out of 39(pass score), I scored 38. I felt really very unlucky and helpless. Lost all my hope in hardwork and practice. I'll be giving this exam again after a month. Help me!!!
I followed the book: OCP Application developer exam guide by Jason Couchman & Allen. Do I need to follow some other guide?

Sorry to hear you failed the exam ....

After your exam you got a detail report with the number of correct questions per topic.

What were the weakest topics?

If you know some questions you answered wrong - post them here.

I'm sure we can help you ..

Hi, That book is really a USELESS book. I passed this exam just last month. I think the best reference for 1z0-001 is the "Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL" published by Oracle. I just used this book and passed the exam. For this exam you don't need any more help.
GOOD LUCK

I read the first half of Oracle8 PL/SQL programming from Oracle Press to prep for this exam, but I had also been using SQL for a few years when I took it. I would suggest getting this book anyway; it's got everything you never wanted to know about Oracle PL/SQL but were forced to find out.

Also, get an exam prep test so that you can get a better idea of what portions of PL/SQL you'll need to brush up on. I've heard that there are a lot of crappy exam prep books out there, but the exam practice tests seem to be better. The ones that I've heard are the best are the practice exams from cert21 and Self Test.

Good luck!

Dear Raj,
From an African point of view, I believe practice makes perfect. Thus, I would advise that you keep practising SQL in detail. Oracle Press Books are the best recommended ones followed by Osborne and O'Reilly. But your best bet is to complete the practice section in the Oracle book.
From experience and research I've found out that the best in the field are those who have become self made guru of SQL by practice. Even without certification, your knowledge would take you places.
