I had the same question as you.

I sat (and passed) exam 1Z0-001 Introduction to Oracle:SQL and PL/SQL some time ago with the intention of following the Oracle 8 track. I now plan to follow the Oracle 9i track.

From what I can see it is a DIFFERENT exam (1Z0-007) if you want to follow the Oracle 9i certification track.

BUT.....it is the same exam (1Z0-001) - according to the Oracle web site - if you wish to follow the Oracle Forms Developer 6/6i track.

Hey Dann,

Where did you see that instruction?

I've downloaded the Oracle 9i Certification Program Candidate Guide off of the Oracle web site (it's a pdf document, dated Dec 2001). It clearly states that you can take Exam 1Z0-007 OR 1Z0-001 for the 9i DBA track.

I've also downloaded the Oracle Certification Guide for Oracle Forms Developer Rel. 6/6i. That document states that the first exam required is 1Z0-001.

What differentiates the 1Z0-001 exam quoted from the 1Z0-001 exam that I sat and passed a year or so ago?

I've not seen any instructions on the Oracle web site stating that I have to re-sit the exam.......

Does anyone have the definitive answer...?
I'd certainly be grateful as I don't want to have to re-sit the exam!

Cheers,
Don

This is the explanation that I got from them:

"Yes, you can replace the 1Z0-007 exam with the 1Z0-001 exam. There is no
retirement date scheduled for the 1Z0-001 exam at this time.

Kind regards,
Oracle University Europe, Middle East & Africa"

Good luck..
