| Do you guys think I should wait?
For those that dont already know, Oracle Application Developer release 2 will be phased out by July 31st of this year. A new release 6/6i will take its place. Oracle recommends that those that are currently pursuing release 2 certification complete their requirements by July 31st.
For someone who has not yet gotten started on the Developer track, do you think I should go on a crash course and try to take all exams for release2 before July 31st or should I just wait and work on release 6/6i?

| The "new" release is already out and has been out, so there is no waiting involved. Both tracks require the Intro to PL/SQL and the Program Units exam, so at least start there and see your timeline after that. 5 exams is a lot to complete is such a short time period, I already decided to just go for the 6i track instead od the release 2 track. You only need 4 exams for the 6i track too, instead of the 5 for the Release 2 track. Good Luck | |

| Hey Odonata..
Thanx for the reply.
I know that 6i is already out and their is no waiting involved. I guess I should of phrased my question differently by asking if I should work on 6i certification or crash course through release 2 in 4 months time. Im currently working on 8i OCP so I already have PL/SQL under my belt that would roll-over to the developer track as well. I only have one more last exam (Net8 Admin) before I get my 8i OCP.

| I too am just starting out on the 6i developer track. I already have 1z0-001, and am now starting work on 1Z0-001 PL/SQL Program Units.
Am using the Oracle Press book, and things appear to be pretty straightforward so far.
Would be interested to share views/experiences with other people following this track. Possibly encourage each other to maintain momentum to get through the four exams.
Maybe share note, test questions etc.
