I will taking courses for the oracle 9i database associate. Being that i'm new to this should I have some prerequisite knowledge of sql or some backgroud in db admin. I would hate to enroll in this course and be lost on the first day. Thanks

a basic knowledge of SQL would be good and a basic understanding of relational databases would probably make the whole thing alot easier. I'm sure you will do fine though.

Could not agree with Ian_J any more on this one...you really need to have a good understanding of relational databases in my opinion. I know people have taken the DBA course without knowing concepts like rows, columns and tables!!! Needless to say they had a very tough time...since everyone around them was undestanding everything and they were LOST!

Cheers!

The Associate certification should not be a stopping point as far as certification is concerned, unless you find Oracle doesn't float your boat. If you find you like Oracle (why wouldn't you?), continue on for the DBA certification.
