Hi

I have completed the PL/SQL exam and now am preparing for the Program UNits exam.

In the past, I have used the sybex books, but could not find one for the program units exam?

Does anyone recommend any other books for program units? I have been unable to find anything on this, but lots on DBA for some reason.

Any advise??

I just wrote this in response to a similar question:
~~
The book I am using to study is the Oracle Press book contains ALL the exams for the Appl. Dev. track (Rel. 2), which of course includes this exam. I think at one time this one the only book covering this exam, but I want to say that another book came out in November?? Maybe someone else here can clarify this. I've also purchased the Self-Test-Software for this particular exam to help me prepare.
~~

I think Aneesh has just completed this exam recently - which book did you use Aneesh?

There is no Sybex book for Program Units. There is no Exam Cram book either. And Couchmans book is not enough to prepare you for the exam.
I used the book called Learn PL/SQL In 21 Days for this exam and did very well. The book has a lot of material - like 600 pages and you can buy it cheap, like 19.99 new. It is also well written, the author explains things very clearly.
Also, unlike the two Forms tests and the Reports test, the STS has very good explanations when you click on Learn Now.

Thanks guys! That was alot of help.

SO the STS is really good for preparation for program units?

I will try to get my hands on that 'PL/SQL in 21 days', who is the publisher? I don't really like the couchman boooks, they are not as thorough.

I did see one boook that is coming out in April called 'Program units' by Oracle Press. heard any good news about this boook?
I'm kinda iffy on studying for this program units cuz its basically the PL/SQL all over again but with more on procedures, packages, and functions. Is that what I can expect?

I actually liked the Program Units material the most, more than PL/SQL, Forms and Reports. It's not about little bits and bytes and little functions, it's more how to structure and create a complete executable or lib member. This is probably the most important exam of them all. This exam tells you how to be a good programmer. If you are going to a job interview a lot of questions will come from this material.
I buy all of my books from Ebay or "Used" at Amazon.com. I Can't remember who the publisher is and don't have the book with me.

try this link

and pick up the pl/sql docs...they are pretty good reference.

Thanks for all the great info Marty and Aneesh.

Comparing the information from the Couchman Program Units chapters and to STS test questions and information, there definitely seems to be some information not completely explained in the couchman book.

I did find that the Forms I exam chapters were fine, and I already took that exam and passed with 95% and I only studied from Couchman, but the Program Units chapters definitely seem to be lacking something!
