Admin/Architecture test and OEM

| I'm halfway through the Exam Cram 1Z0-123 book and I noticed that the author has a lot of material on how to use the Enterprise Manager, to do things like Rename Redo log files, but the Self Test Software doesn't seem to have any questions on how to use the OEM. At least not the first 6 topics.
Is the damn Exam Cram crammed with usefull but irrelevant OEM jam? Or are there questions like, "In the Enterprise Manager what would you click on to do such and such".
Please advise,

| To be honest I don't remember any OEM questions in Architecture and Administartion.
Maybe a couple asking what it can do, but I didn't have any specific question about what to click or anything like that. To be honest, just skim over the OEM stuff and concentrate on the text commands. OEM is just a gui to make things easier an quicker and it is pre easy to find where everything is if you know how everything works at command line level. | |

| Hi, I just passed the Archit Exam on Feb 28th. I did not have any OEM questions.
I do remember I had about 7 or eight questions on Managing Tablespaces and Data Files. Other than that, it seems after you take these exams, everything is a blur...Meaning I really do not remember too much about what was on it. I do hope this eases your mind. I did not find this exam too difficult. I did find Back up and Recovery very difficult. I did not pass it and am studying and waiting for my 30 day mark to take it again. I do have the Exam Cram for all exams and have mixed feelings about them. It was not very helpful for the B/U and Recovery but was very helpful for Tuning. I am using Sybex, Self Test Software and other text from school. (Plus Exam Cram....Good luck to you

| Hmm, maybe I should go pick up the Sybex book. I have been reading Couchmans book and the Exam Cram. Serena, you mentioned the Exam Cram was good for Tuning but not very helpfull for B/U & R, how was the Exam Cram for Arch & Admin? I thought that the Couchman's book was very weak for PL/SQL but I'm not so sure about Arch & Admin, he has more material for it. | |

| Marty,
Hey!
Well, the reason I say the Exam Cram is not very good for B/U & Rec is because the exam itself is so very tricky. You must be fully prepared for the B/U & Recovery exam. Make sure you really know RMAN....
I recommend the Sybex books. I also have Self Test Software which is very good also. I have only used Sybex, Exam Cram, Self Test and Oracle text I received from school.
By the way, it is different for everyone but I passed the Arch exam after 2 weeks of preparation. Granted, I could have very well have been lucky to do so but I did spend well over 100 hours preparing for it.
I happen to be unemployed at the moment so I have lots and lots of time!!!
Have a great day and talk to you soon!
