| Does anyone have an good reference materials for the Oracle8 to 8i: New Features for Administrators exam?
I have been using the exam cram, some of the O'Reilly books, and documentation from the oracle site. Anyother help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. | |

| I need help too... I want to take the test soon but haven't gotten any good feedback on what to study. I only have the examcram book to study. I know I need other materials. They say to study the new features. | |

| Hi,
For all my certification tests I've used the study guides from Cramsession (http://www.cramsession.com). I believe the one you are looking for is at..
http://studyguides.cramsession.com/...racle8iupgrade/
By the way, I am new to the Oracle 8i world but I have been using Microsoft SQL for years. Do you have any recommendations for a good "getting started" book(s) for understanding Oracle 8i?
Good luck,

| You definitly need more than just the exam cram, if doesn't give you enough detail. I have already failed the test once. This time I am finding everything and anything to do with the upgrade to 8i.
To start with I would recommend Oracle8i The Complete reference guide by Osborne. It is basically a step by step how to. Great book. There is also another book that just came out. I haven't had a chance to look at it. I believe it is called Mastering Oracle8i by Sybex.

If you have the time, it's worth reading what people have said about the various books on Oracle (or any other subject) on Amazon. Realize that different styles of books appeal differently to different people. Some are Q&A style, some checklists, some you'll just read on the recliner and some are at the desk reference.
I was recently stunned when I hit the final click on my Oracle 8 upgrade and failed by 3 points. I was so confident that I was saying to myself, "c'mon, c'mon, beat 90", and then my jaw dropped.
So MY question is this: there are test question batteries from firms such as www.SelfTestSoftware.com . Do you have any experience with them?
Thanks | |

| the same thing happened to me. I was going right along in the exam, thinking this is great I know this. Then bam. I hit the end button and failed by two. I was so mad I just wanted to throw the computer out the window. | |

| pegasusdba,
STS are really good stuff (not cheap anyway - but who cares after finishing an exam )
They simulate the exam environment 1:1 and give you a good feeling how complex and sometimes tricky the exam questions are.
And the most important topic is: they cover all the required material in the right depth for the exam - if you can't reach at least 90 % with STS don't try to take the exam!!
I can really recommend them!!

| I found it hard, it took me all three tries before I finally got it.
I used the cramsession and Oracle8i Complete Reference along with Oracle technet.
I also had the exam cram as well.

Thanks for the info. Did it incompass a summary of the 5 other tests we took for ORACLE 8? Did it test only the new features? I have the cram book which I'm not too fond of and I have ORACLE 8I COMPLETE REFERENCE which is huge. Any memorization you had to do? Anything information you give me would help me. Thanks.
