Hey guys,

Has anyone tried for the 8i Internet db operator certification and received it.

Does ne one know where can i find materials that will help for this exam.

Is 8i internet db operator sufficient to land up a job of a assistant dba or a junior dba.

Is it advisable to get this certification.

Thanks and Regards.....

* Is 8i internet db operator sufficient to land up a job of a assistant dba or a junior dba.
========> IMHO, no... and assistant/jr.DBA jobs are for 8-DBA/8i-DBA/9i-DBA certified people with a finished IT-degree or a IT-degree in progress with previous Oracle experience

* Is it advisable to get this certification.
========> IMHO, no, you should go for 9i DBA, it's a very hot cert, start at http://oracle.prometric.com

I agree with dhcpserver, i don't know what the point of the dbo certification is?? Might as well go for the DBA cert., harder but i am sure worth it!

I used studying for this cert as an attempt to learn more about databases. DB's were a weakness, so I figured it would help to get some type of cert. I knew I would not follow trough with a 5 test DBA cert, when that's not what I do or really want to do. I work with Sybase fairly frequently and Oracle occasionally.

I thought the test was hard. To me it was harder than any I have taken, but it's all relative. I would suspect it might help you get a Junior DBA type position if you have some applicable work experience already. I certainly wouldn't consider it a primary certification though. I think the new OCA track might be better than the OCP DBO track, but I did gain a lot of general knowledge. I feel more comfortable now on those occasions when I have to do a few things inside of Sybase too.

What I used:
1)Took the Oracle class at Oracle, Orlando which included a SQL self-study disk.
2)Went through the self-study disk and took about 30 typed pages of notes on SQL. Reviewed the notes on SQL at least twice (boring).
3)Bought the Sybex OCP DBO book. Read it at least twice. Did more than half the labs. With Oracle 8i and OEM that I downloaded.
4)Used the Self Test Software practice test. I took about 8 pages of notes on this that I also studied.
5)Studies on and off for 10 months.
6)Barely passed score 70%... 67.5% required to pass.

I hope this helps.
