Hi!

I passed the last exam for 8i yesterday I'm so happy!

But I realize I have a long way to go. I'm not even starting to look for a job yet, will just stay home playing with Oracle for a while until I feel a little more comfortable...

Thank you for the help.

Thanks you guys!

I have 8i at home. Yes, I think it's better if you install the same version of the exam your preparing for.

Take care

Hey...WHere did u guys get the Oracle software that u installed on your PC's? I might as well practice Oracle at home on my free time since I cant get an Oracle job for the life of me. I have one more exam to go for 8i...but no luck with jobs.

You can order a trail version of the personal edition from otn.oracle.com for about $39.95, or you can download it.
What type of work are you presently doing?
Don't say that about Oracle jobs, man. Are you doing the DBA certification? I am doing the Developer 6i track since it is more interesting, and most DBA's start out as developers.
What do you intend to pursue AFTER you are done with Oracle OCP?

Thanx for the information about where to download the software. As for your other comment, the fact that you believe going the developer track is best and more interesting is strictly a matter of opinion.

Actually a lot of people have told me that Developer is actually better to begin with, but ofcourse there is no hard and fast rule!!

I guess it is easier for developers to get a job because of the nature of the DBA job. Most DBA's work alone - only few companies can or need afford more than one. Beeing a DBA for a mission critical database (most databases are somewhat mission critical) is a lot of responsibility and needs some real experience.

As developer with some DBA knowledge you have always a plus. Getting a developer position where you can assist the DBA is optimal to gain experience on the job IMHO.
