| Can anyone give me any pointers for this exam?
I'm leaning towards the Sybex guide, what should I use for practice tests?

| The Self Test Software practice tests. I hind sight, I don't think they were quite the best. I just did squeak by with a 70, but then I don't use Oracle, but a few times a year. I also used the Sybex book, and took the Oracle class. It was pretty much my into to Oracle and DB concepts.
From my score report I see the exam contains the following types of questions:
Definining and Oracle DB... 2 questions
Tools use to access an Oracle DB... 3
How to create an Oracle DB and Services... 2
Where to find important files... 4
Network Admin... 4
How to start and stop a DB... 3
Implementing logical and physical structure for new apps... 4
How to set up users for a new app... 4
How to create objects to store app data... 3
How to secure app data manipulation... 3
Why and when to backup DB's... 4
Recovering a crashed DB... 6
How to load Non-Oracle data... 2
How to anticipate issues... 2
How to instlall Oracle WebDB... 3
Administering with WebDB... 3
Setting up the Listener with WebDb... 2
SQL and SQL*Plus SELECT statements... 8
SQL and SQL*Plus DML and DDL... 8
I took the DBO for 8i. I missed 7 questions out of the 16 for SQL, so that was what hurt me the most. Good luck!

| I thought that the 8 and 8i track were one and the same? | |

| I tested in the middle of Sept. Prior to that I was looking at objectives and what not for both. I recall that 8 didn't include the WebDB stuff... (now known as Oracle Portal). The objectives for 8 were seemed to lean a little heavier on SQL, backup, and recovery.
Actually I heard they were retiring the 8 DBO from somewhere. The 8i cert is actually Internet Database Operator. IDBO?? I guess. |
