| wassup guys. Ive been doing some asking around in major corporations. It turns out that DBA's actually have to interact with just about EVERYONE. That goes for web programmers. DBA's also have to work with internet interfaces ("software powers the internet"...great slogan) That means, you have to know:
Every darn thing about Java
java script
c++, jaguar, delphi, python
perl, cgi
XML
html, dhtml
and just about every other programming language out there!
And you thought all you needed was some easy going sql and plsql! shame on you! shame on me for thinking that too!
and since your company will have to work on multi-platforms and the such like IBM DB2 or MS sql server, that means youll have to know VBA as well.
so, when youre at your dba desk and an EJB programmer comes up to you and asks you why his java bean queries dont work, youll have to look over his code and fix it.
ODBC with COM, c++, oh my goodness.
I give up!
Cisco anyone?
Peace out! | |
