Hi all

Is it worth to get Oracle 8i OCP? I know that Oracle 9i exams are in beta phase. I don't know to prepare Oracle 8i or 9i exams.
Please give me advice.

yeah Im scared sh1tless too. Oracle.com said the 9i cert will be available this december. BUt they dont say whether or not 8i will be retired along with 8. I dont want to get 2 down on the DBA cert then get screwed and have to do them over again on the 9i level. Give us a break Oracle!

In the past, Oracle has simply created an upgrade exam to help OCP's get certified on the next version. So if you get 8i now, and then take the one upgrade exam, you'll be certified on both versions.

8i will be around for quite a while - there are still a lot of places using 7.3.4. It will be about a year before companies start buying into 9i - everyone wants to wait for the bugs to be fleshed out (at someone else's expense). It will still be better to be one of the last to take an old exam series than one of the first to take a new series.
