Hello everyone. Im new to Oracle DBA. I took a lot of Database in college.

I would like to attempt the OCP DBA without going to any tech school. Do you guys think I can pass all 5 exams by just studying the Oracle Press / Sybex Books alone? More importantly, do I need any software like Oracle server to pass this test? I never had hands on experience with something like that.

I have Oracle 8i personal edition, but not sure how to use it except for sql+. Im good with that.

technically you can pass probably anything by just studying for it.

sybex books come with the oracle 8i full version. you should have exp using oracle universal installer and have an instance running.

but i do know people who just read the book. they suck asss though. take at least 1 oracle class so the instructor can show you how to use the tool
