I've heard that it is quite easy and straightforward if you know your syntaxes

Easy? Nah. But not too terribly hard either. There are lots of "trick" questions, so read carefully and take your time. And definately be sure you can look at some code and find the glitches.

I HAVE BEEN WONDERING IF IT MAKES ANY SENSE TO STUDY FOR MY ORACLE DBA 8 EXAM.!!! DO YOU THINK THAT IT WOULD BE WISE JUST TO STUDY FOR ORACLE 8I INSTEAD OF JUST 8 ?????
ANYBODY'S FEEDBACK WOULD BE OF MOST IMPORTANCE....

The 1Z0-001 exam is the same for both 8 and 8i. (And for Developer, too.)

You can also go the "mixed release" path -- take one extra exam and get certified for both 8 and 8i. I don't think have a certification in one or the other would be much of an impediment to getting hired, at least not compared to getting ANY job with a wet-ink certification. However, 9i is just around the corner, and if history holds true, you will need two more exams to go from 8 to 9i, but only one to go from 8i to 9i.

The Oracle DBA 8 and DBA 8i Candidate guides are the best place for OCP track information for you, which you can get off Oracle's web site.
