| quote: Thanks Nicole for the information. Right now I'm developing my own application and studying for the test. I've read magazines that recommend that if you can develop your own application that employers would be impressed with what you have developed and that you would stand out above others because you have more than a resume to show them. Are you working as a oracle developer now? I've just read Oramag and they have quoted Infoweek Mag that oracle professionals make the most money, and are highly sought after. That's really encouraging. I hope to finish my project in a few weeks. Its not that easy because I work at night as a postal clerk and I'm dead tired when I get off in the morning, but I try to stay motivated and at least put in a couple of hours a day. Donna
I can't say if an employer would want to look at your application, but it's a great way to learn the material!
I know that Oracle is the "Hot" certification right now... but Oracle has also certified 30,000 OCP's in the last 8 months. I have to wonder how many are newbies to Oracle, and what the employment percentages is like for all of those new OCP's to actually be employed in Oracle jobs.
I'm facing a layoff (I work as an IT Manager), so I am seriously revising my career development schedule from long-term to short-term. I've done database development for 6 years now, 4 of those with Access, and I know a fair amount about the VBA and back-end Access development. I'm more of a jack-of-all-trades, trying to move into solid database development. I tossed my resume out to the world last Thursday, and I've had a couple of Access/SQL Server developer nibbles, so I may be changing sides to the evil M$ camp...
