| Hi,
I have the Sybex study guides and like them a lot!!! I have tried the Oracle Press guides but they don't seem as good to me.
Also, has anyone tried the CheetSheets? I am tempted to give one a try!?!?!
Thanks,

| I didn't try CheetSheets because it didn't seem like a great value for the money. However, I would never have passed (okay, maybe not NEVER... just not as soon) without the Self Test Software practice exams. I have the 1Z0-001 STS software in the unlikely event that someone wants to trade for one of the other Application Developer tests.
I like the Oracle Press books, but they do need to be supplemented with other materials unless you are already a pro. I haven't tried Sybex since they are only interested in DBAs | |

| Hi,
I bought the STS for the SQL test. It was very good though a bit expensive. The sybex study guides are still my favorite reading material.
I just decided, "What the Hell", and bought the cheet-sheet for the 8i Net Admin test. I haven't gone through it yet but it appears to be about 140 questions with the answers. Unfortunately, there isn't any explanation of the answers. I'm optimistic - I'll try it this weekend and let you know.

| Having a database background but being completely new to Oracle, I started with the "Oracle8i for Windows NT Starter Kit" from Oracle Press. I then read "Oracle PL/SQL 101" also from Oracle Press, then moved on to the Oracle8i DBA SQL and PL/SQL Study Guide by Sybex. As soon as I finish the Sybex book I think I will be ready to take the exam. The fist two books gave me a good grounding in Oracle and SQL fundamentals. The Sybex book focuses more on exam objectives and also comes with an exaluation version of Oracle8i which I now have set up on my NT Server on my home network. |
