Hi all, i am about to start my certification path for citrix.

First up is the cca exam in metafram xp next weds.

I am using the osbourne book for the cca, along with the ccea exam cram book & the user guides for the rest. I have around two years experience with Citrix so with any luck i should be able to pass the exams.

I will post here with my progress & findings.

Does anyone have a preffered order for the exams?

Did Exam Cram finally come out with a CCEA book for the Metaframe XP track? The one I saw last year pertained to the 1.8 CCEA.
Please let me know, thanks.

hi all, i passed my cca today with a 95% score.

the exam was far easier than i thought, maybe it was due to the excellent book from syngress, i dont know.

on to 911 tomorrow!

Carl,
How many questions and how much time allowed?
Thank you.

hi all,

The 220 test was 60 questions & 60 minutes. I think it states this on the Citrix website as a reference for this & the other exams, if you wish to check that out.

I am trying to think of things to say about the 220 exam but no questions in particular stuck out as being outside of the books scope. I read the book cover to cover twice to achieve a good pass.

I am happy to say i passed my 911 exam this morning with a pass mark of 85%.

The exam cram is pretty much on the mark to help you with this test, although i have had quiet a large amout of hands on experience with Resource Manager in general. It isnt a very large or complex application, i would advise just to work with it for a while & try out all the options in a lab.

I am studying hard for my next exam on Saturday which is Installation Manager. I will update you with my findings.

Of the CCEA exams, I did 911, 921, 941 and 951. All of them can be passed easily with a good knowledge of the admin guide. So if your book doesn't cover those topics you'll only need the admin guides.

Plus your two years experience of course!

Good luck!

Whats the passing score for 220?

Hi again,

I passed my 221 exam this morning with a 90% mark. Just read the manual for installation services & work with it a little, this exam was the easiest so far.

I think my two final exams on secureica & nfuse on monday & wednesday will be considerably more difficult.

So its back to the books for me, hopefully ill have some good news to report next week.

4 down 1 to go !

I passed my citrix secure gateway exam this morning. It was a tough exam, i barely passed there were lots and lots of questions :>

The timelimit was tight for me also, security over ip isnt my strong point & something i need to work on definatley before i start my ccnp path.

On to wednesday & my final exam in load management.

dude, you're kicking some serious butt over here!
Carl_Docklands

2003-01-13, 7:24 am

thanks for the support freak, i passed by 1%. Make a mental note to study harder for that one if you ever take the ccea
freak

2003-01-13, 8:04 am

true, but a pass is a pass, nobody will ever ask you if you passed a test by only 1% -- if they did that would be a pretty bad sign, huh?

2003-01-13, 8:08 am

Well done!

Don't forget: 941 isn't just about Load Management, its also about the Program Neighbourhood. I was surprised at how little I was asked on the various rules etc. Program Neighbourhood is a big part of this exam.

But, you're doing the graft and you've got the experience so it shouldn't be too bad.

It is harder than 911 and 921 though.

i passed my final exam this morning, thanks for the support.

CCEA has been tougher than i expected, the cca exam was a piece of cake, the others were more of a challenge :>

If any publishers are reading a CCEA book would sell like hotcakes.

I do not know what is next for me, i am considering doing a netapp cert if i can find a book
freak

why don't you write the book while it is all fresh in your mind? I will publish it for you from www.MCSEFreakPress.com

Hi Freak, very cool site. I wish i had the time to write something, i really do. But i am under pressure to level the cisco certification path from a number of sides.

Theres nothing like helping other people reach their goals, good luck with the site.

I understand... needless to say, you would have been compensated for your work.

Best of luck with the Cisco studies. Let me know if I can be of help

Thanks mate, same here, if i can help you with anything drop me a line. Ive got maybe 3 months max to clear the CCNP so its going to be tight. Although i do have the luxury of a few bucks to spend on some routers.

I do not know if i am good enough to pass the CCIE but im gonna go down trying

Ill be knocking around the CCNP and CCIE threads too, lets hope its a smooth ride :>
freak

2003-01-22, 9:08 am

3 months for the CCNP? You're going to be busy! Have you looked into a bootcamp-type solution? It could help out...
Carl_Docklands

2003-01-28, 11:11 am

Hi freak,

The problem i really can only afford the bootcamps for the CCIE and not for both. I will try my best, even if i cant pass the 4 i am pretty confident i can knock down 2 or even 3 of them
freak

2003-01-29, 7:54 am

I hear you. THey are quite expensive. I thought maybe your job could pick up the tab
Carl_Docklands

2003-01-29, 12:08 pm

Good Call

Its going to be pricey though, £2500 for the CCIE written 2-week bootcamp and £3000 plus expenses for the the lab bootcamp.

I think doing the CCNP on my own will convince them i am serious
freak

2003-01-29, 1:01 pm

it does convince me!
