| Hi,
We'll be implementing a Citrix server in the next few months to provide remote connectivity to our fileserver and applications at head office.
I have a couple of visually impaired users who use a product called JAWS which is a screen reader.
Has anyone had any experience/difficulties with using Citrix with accessible software, and more importantly screen readers such, as this?
I have tried JAWS with the NFuse client to connect through my browser to an internet service that uses Citrix and JAWS didn't like it at all , so I'd appreciate anyone with a bit more experience giving me some feedback. | |

| Well, now I've done some testing and confirmed my results - just in case anyone was wondering - Citrix does not work with ANY type of accessible technology for visually impaired people.
So if you are in the UK, like me, and have a plan to introduce Citrix you have to ensure that any visually impaired users that require accessible technology such as JAWS or ZoomText are given access outside of the Citrix environment - otherwise you are in breach of the Disability Discrimination act - eek.
Its kind of obvious that Citrix won't work with screen readers when you think about it, but there you go. I also have confirmation from Citrix themselves that the accessible technology doesn't work with it and that Citrix are apparently "working towards a resolution"
Amazing that this is not mentioned anywhere within the Citrix knowledgebase - or maybe it isn't 'cos I doubt Citrix will want to be seen as discriminatory. |
