| Hi,
I'm pretty new to all this citrix stuff. I've been booked on a course for Citrix MetaFrame XP 1.0 with feature release one. I presume that this will count as the CCA exam but what about the CCEA certification? How many additional exams does this include?
Thanks in advance.

| Basically, after your CCA, it is 4 more tests from a total of 8 to choose from as of now. Here is the link to that doc on the Citrix site.

Good luck! | |

| Thank you for the help and information, I see you are after the CCA as well as the CCNP.
Good luck to you too! | |

| You are welcome...I am going for the XP CCA 220. I scheduled it last night for June 1st. I just got an eval copy to play with and the installation was smooth as silk.
Good Luck
P.S. I take it you like George Clooney

| Think he has done some great films, though the picture would be funny on a profile!
Glad someone noticed! | |
|
| I will be taking the CCA for MF 1.8 at the end of the week if all goes well. Welcome to the Citrix forum | |

Glad to see someone go before me. Freak, what are you using to study with besides the software itself? I am using the Sybex book for XP. It seems really good. I will be supplementing with the XP admin guide and white papers from Citrix.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

| Hope if all goes well freak, and to second JBG what revision materials are you using out of interest? | |
|
| I use the original Citrix courseware. I took that class over a year ago, and I plan on using that same book. Frankly, I am more interested in getting more hands-on at this point since I have not used it for quite a while... | |

Do you know if you can buy the courseware without going to class?

| I have my W2K server exam next week and I am in the middle of changing the boot options and deleting files so that I can put the command console options and restore options into practise. Much rather have the experience in case it ever happens to me.
The fact that I have been creating mirrored volumes and stripe sets has helped me know end with recovery options and how to deal with the disasters if and when they arise.
Freak, don't you think it's alarming that the pass rate is so important to a lot of the people who post threads on here? I'd much rather get the pass from my time spent learning the product than learning answers from test engines.
Just a thought and it would be interesting to get someone elses point of view on this.
|
| I always tell people that the only score that interests me is 1000 What the passing score is is the least of my concerns... I agree with you that while pursuing certs, some of us tend to forget why we are doing it... I think that we have all done it from time to time... | |

| My concern is passing and learning the subject as I wade through the mound of information that you have to digest, then hopefully being able to help others with the aid of this forum.
The exams are as diverse as you could possible get from the real world with the exception of a few key areas but I suppose if they tested candidates on creating user accounts and limiting logon times then there would be very little in the way of challenge.
Being in the IT industry gives you the experience if you are in an administrative role and the certification enforces your the fact that you are skilled in your career.
I just don't see the point of having the certification when you don't have the knowledge to back it up. You wouldn't let an inexperienced plummer or electrician loose on your house but companies do with their networks.
This degrades the certification in their eyes when an administrator can not do the job with the professional qualification.
But I agree with you, it is the subject and your knowledge that is paramount.
|
| Simply put: I don't prepare for tests. I prepare for the real world. As a subset of that, I am also able to take -- and pass -- the tests... | |

| I like your way of looking at the situation, explains all your certifications as well.
Better to know what you are doing than to think you know, that why the best study aids are the MS press books, Technet (Invaluable) and a server all of your own.

| I saw a post recently in another forum that said Citrix will now let you purchase the courseware from a CALC. I would find one near you and give them a call. | |

| I'm already booked on the course but thanks for the advice anyway. | |

Go to Ebay do a search on Citrix and you will get back info on this. I just saw the courseware for XP sell for 347.00 yesterday.
Good Luck. | |

| I saw that auction but the books said March of 2001, was hoping to find something more current. |
